Friends. Strangers. Work. Bills. Moments of peace. Moments of stress. Mindfulness in everyday life requires practice — it requires work. But what better “work” to do in life?
I used to think I had to find a job that would allow me to make a difference. And this job would pay the bills and keep everything running smoothly. I didn’t realize for some time that it wasn’t about the job. It was about the life.
We can cultivate mindfulness wherever we go — and in whatever work we do or don’t do. When we live from the heart, our heart starts to change. The hearts around us change. Heartful living feels good.
I sit in a cafe writing at my computer. The couple next to me discusses the right way to spell a medical term for an essay. The old man next to them laughs out loud after reading a couple pages of his book. The woman across from me has taken off her shoes. The guy next to her sits with his head in his hands. A motorcycle zooms by. Life is happening. We are all living this life the best way we can at this moment.
“We work to become, not to acquire.” ~ Elbert Hubbard
Keep living. Keep welcoming new beginnings. Mindfulness in everyday life is a work in progress. Love surrounds you.

So true. Its easy to get lost in the “what if’s and what should be’s”.
I really liked this post as it gave me a moment stop and appreciate the “what is”.
The past is behind us, the future, yet to come. All that we ever have is the here and now.
this piecce on coincidences spoke directly to me.i am supposed to go to greecewith my husband and friends in 2 weeks.everything is already paid 4+cant be cancelled.yesterday we agreed to a legal separation after 29 years of marriage.2 months ago i bought a pendant of the clamshell birth of venus.today i stumble upon this article which includes a mention of pilgrimage.i walked part of the el camino de santiago pilgrimage 2 years ago+wanted to go back this year but the greek holiday was a conflict.when you begin the pilgramige you get a big clamshell to tie onto your backpack to identify you as a pilgrim.the universe is directly telling me what to do instead of going to greece.could it be simpler? or clearer? namaste.
Amazing Abby — and beautiful. I’m happy to meet you. Namaste.
